Greetings N'tsirians!

"I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order. —John Burroughs"

Blink, and a third of 2022 is gone!

As always, the beauty of Nature continues to deliver!  We have had some amazing sightings the past few months - and some "too close for comfort" encounters with members of the Big Five!
A total 406mm of rain has been recorded for the season so far and the Reserve is in good condition.

This edition is packed with information - reports from Elephants Alive and The Ground Hornbill Project, as well as the latest newsletter from the African Snakebite Institute (ASI); another successful, fun day out tree netting with a team of N'tsirians; what to do and where to eat in The Hoed; and some inspiring Projects and Organisations supporting and uplifting our surrounding Communities.

Thank you for sharing your photos and stories with us, keep it coming!

General update

  Leopard

Rather safe than sorry...
It is a privilege to experience Nature at its best, and to be able to view wild animals in their natural habitat.  With that said, Members are reminded to remain vigilant at all times, especially with young children.  There have been a few close encounters with leopards in the river bed, at the platform and a few units.

When Nature calls...
We all know when you've got to go, you've got to go!  When going about your business, please be respectful to Nature and to others by not leaving any trace behind.  Small paper bags are available in the shop to keep in your vehicle.  Kindly dispose of these at your unit.

Spoils of Hoedspruit

  Taste

There are a number of restaurants and eateries in Hoedspruit to visit - truly an option for each craving.  For many The Bush Pub & Inn is a favourite (not to mention the convenience).Fever Tree Restaurant is another little gem located at the Rhino Convention Centre (just before you enter the Wildlife Estate) - the breakfasts are incredible and you even have the option to arrange for a pre-cooked meal (2 days in advance) for collection on your way 'home'.
Woolworths Taste Magazine featured some of  the Hoedspruit restaurants and eateries in the March / April 2022 edition. For ideas on where to go for your next meal when visiting The Hoed, you are welcome to pop in to the Office for "the inside scoop"!
If you have not been up Mariepskop yet, add this to your to-do list.  The view is breathtaking from up there.  Pack a picnic basket and binoculars - and don't forget jackets as it can be chilly up there.
